Celtic ERA – when druids of the Highlands ask for a dance

With Celtic ERA, Eduardo Tarilonte once again takes you to a fascinating journey through time. This time, he travels far north to the roots of the Celtic culture. Sounds having been been played in the green vastness and the high mountains of Ireland for ages are now available at your fingertips with Celtic ERA.

After creating successful libraries such as Ancient ERA Persia, Forest Kingdom, Desert Winds, Epic World and ERA Medieval Legends, sample-mastermind Eduardo Tarilonte has dedicated himself to the sound of Nordic myths.

Whenever the unmistakable flutes are heard, they’ll magically enchant our dreaming minds with pictures of the green island and its majestic Nordic mountains. Hence, Celtic ERA is the pick of the bunch for film-scores and background music for television documentations taking place or being settled in this region. Whether historical or fictional background, the authentic sounds of Celtic ERA will lift the power of the pictures to a new level.Celtic ERA Screen and Box Image

Celtic Era Instruments Image 1The Instruments

For Celtic ERA, Eduardo Tarilonte has recorded 23 brass-, string- and percussion-instruments in full detail and with immaculate quality. Find catchy flutes, dreamy harps, the famous Uilleann Pipes and the indispensable Bodhran drums. To achieve an even greater variety, some sounds have been created by recording two different instruments of the same kind. This allows you for example to play a harp duet without the instruments sounding identical.

In addition, authentic phrases have been recorded as MIDI-patterns as well as inspiring soundscapes. Naturally, the instruments are offered in all of their typical articulations with an added true legato function.

List of Instruments:

Celtic ERA Instruments Banner TwoWinds:

  • Irish Flute

Instruments from the Bronze Age

A true highlight of this library are three additional instruments, unheard in any previous sample library: Cranyx, Cornu and War Horns already existed in the bronze age. These instruments allow you to tap into unexplored sound worlds.

The instruments of this roundabout 18-GB-heavy library (consisting of more than 18,000 samples) are elaborated multisamples (24 bit/ 44,1 kHz) with several dynamic graduations, various articulations, round-robin- and real legato-samples as well as dedicated glissando samples.

The Engine

Celtic ERA transfers the sounds of the far north, that have been preserved until this day from times long gone by, into today’s DAW-based production environment. The carefully programmed user interface of the Engine player makes work with this library real easy, allowing musicians to be inspired by the libraries’ sounds to fully unfold their creativity.

Celtic Era GUI Screen 1Who is it for?

Celtic ERA is suited for different applications and musical applications and styles. Its spectrum ranges from scoring traditional compositions with authentic sounds, to fantasy games and movie soundtracks and as far as to the new age genre.

The sounds of Celtic ERA are completely unique and cannot be found in any other library. The outstanding selection of instruments, the MIDI-patterns and soundscapes provide you with an extensive collection which leaves as good as no sound left to be desired.

The Recordings

Eldana Studio

The recordings for Celtic ERA were made in Eldana studios in Spanish Dueñas . All instruments have been played by superb musicians being part of the Irish music scene. Martino Vacca (Uilleann Pipes, Irish Flute, Whistles), Karen Hickey (Fiddle), Carlos Martín Aires (Acoustic Guitar, Irish Bouzouki, Tenor Banjo), Jean Yves Magre (Highland Pipes), Pablo Vergara (Bodhrans). Eduardo Tarilonte, the creator of this library, single-handedly played the Concertinas and Celtic Harps while the three historical instruments were performed by Abraham Cureiro.

All instruments have been recorded using selected Kahayan U47-microphones into preamplifiers by the same manufacturer. Miking was carried out intentionally close and thus without room detail. This procedure offers full control over the following sculpting of the sounds and effects. Therefore, the sounds of Celtic ERA can be combined with Eduardo Tarilonte’s others libraries without any difficulty.

Embertone Joshua Bell Violin Recensione

https://www.embertone.com/instruments/joshuabellviolin.php

Embertone set out to create a new standard in virtual solo strings, offering plenty of inspiration without sacrificing flexibility… and with the unmistakable, iconic sound of internationally acclaimed violinist Joshua Bell.

The instrument offers a huge variety of standard articulations, like sustains, pizzicatos, staccatos, spiccatos, and more, along with a number of sample sets you’re not likely to find anywhere else. Joshua performed an incredible set of eerie harmonics transitions, and a set of “ultra-flautando”, a special technique he can harness from his 300+ year-old violin.

Though this VI is incredibly complex, featuring almost 20,000 individual samples, it’s designed to be simple to use. Play it straight out of the box and it will inspire and surprise you! This virtual violin utilizes intelligent and predictive programming using a diverse array of musical tendencies and rule sets. And with 12 complete “legato”/transition types, you can perform the Joshua Bell violin at various tempos, dynamics, in different styles, while retaining an authentic performance!

Grammy® winner Joshua Bell is one of the most celebrated winning violinists of his era, and his restless curiosity, passion, and multi-faceted musical interests are unparalleled in the world of classical music. With more than 40 CDS recorded of classical repertoire as well as soundtracks including the Oscar® winning score for The Red Violin, Bell has been embraced by wide television audiences with appearances ranging from The Tonight Show, Tavis Smiley, Charlie Rose, to CBS Sunday Morning and Sesame Street. He was one of the first classical artists to have a music video on VH1 and he was the subject of a BBC Omnibus documentary.

Bell has appeared in publications ranging from The Strad and Gramophone to Time, The New York Times, People Magazine’s 50 Most Beautiful People, USA Today, The Wall Street Journal, GQ, Vogue and Reader’s Digest among many. Bell performs on the world’s most precious stages from Carnegie Hall 33 times to the Hollywood Bowl with his 1713 Huberman Stradivarius violin and his late 18th century French bow by François Tourte.

The 1713 ‘Huberman’ Stradivari violin now owned by Joshua Bell has a thrilling history. Formerly known as the ‘Gibson’ Strad, the violin was twice stolen from the Polish violinist Bronislaw Huberman and for nearly 50 years remained undiscovered in plain sight, disguised by its thief – a café violinist named Julian Altman who made a deathbed confession to his wife.

After Altman’s death, his wife had the violin authenticated and reported to the proper authorities. The fiddle was then sold to Norbert Brainin, an acclaimed English violinist, who later decided to sell the violin to a dealer who had an investor eyeing it for a museum piece. Then Joshua stepped in, showing great empathy for its rightful owner, Bronislaw Huberman, who had passed away in 1947, and for the instrument which he felt must be played.

In Bell’s words, “The idea of the violin resting silently in a vault made me ill. This was an instrument meant to be played, not just admired.” He purchased the violin for nearly $4 million, selling his own $2 million 1732 Tom Taylor Strad in the process. The rest is history, and Joshua uses the instrument exclusively to this day!

Spitfire–Bernard Hermann Composer Toolkit–Recensione

ORCHESTRAL INNOVATION INSPIRED BY A LEGEND

€509 inc VAT

Spitfire’s first dry scoring stage ensemble library, inspired by the electric genius of Bernard Herrmann. Renowned for his groundbreaking scores including Citizen Kane, Journey to the Centre of the Earth, Psycho, Vertigo and Taxi Driver, his legacy continues to inspire the work of composers today. We’ve worked exclusively with Bernard Herrmann’s estate to curate and assemble a unique set of studio orchestra ensembles, informed directly by the composer’s legendary orchestration aesthetic. Recorded at Studio 1 Air Lyndhurst by Simon Rhodes (Avatar, Grand Budapest Hotel, Spectre, Harry Potter, There Will Be Blood), we’ve captured players performing as Herrmann would have had them – boisterous, lively and upfront, with patches featuring selected groups, unusual instrumental combis, chords, effects and much more. Fire-up this versatile Toolkit for lively and distinctive scoring.

BACKGROUND

Bernard Herrmann is one of the great modern composers. His work for TV and film is nothing short of iconic, and is truly synonymous with mid-20th Century cinema. Collaborating with Orson Welles on Citizen Kane, Martin Scorsese on Taxi Driver, and in long-term partnership with Alfred Hitchcock for scores such as Vertigo, Psycho, The Birds, Marnie and beyond, the sheer magnitude of critical works produced is breathtaking. Not only did his work cause significant impact on culture at the time, but more recently those works have been used to invigorate contemporary scores, for example the use of the Twisted Nerve theme in Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill – an eerie whistle which is now instantly recognisable worldwide.
Herrmann had a unique and trailblazing compositional style. His orchestrations were entirely original, daring and inventive; always appropriate for the context and subsequently incredibly influential in film scoring (Psycho is an obvious example of a totally new way to score a thriller). The bold selection of specific instrumental ensembles (his Psycho score was famed for being strings-only, and the infamous Torn Curtain featured 12 flutes) and choice of interesting combinations (harp and vibraphone in Vertigo, stopped horns and pizzicato strings in North by Northwest) challenged the status quo. Equally his experimentation of electronic instruments in scores was pioneering – the ondes Martenot in The Day The Earth Stood Still and amplified Moog synths in Sisters/Endless Nights brought sounds previously unheard to cinemas. He also went as far as to effect change in the performance style of players, requesting that players not play in the traditional, somewhat overblown nature that other Hollywood composers would traditionally employ.
He had a limitless curiosity and love of new music, championing the careers of several composers who became household names as a result of his hard work. His work as conductor of the CBS Symphony Orchestra, and the many radio broadcasts he made with them, helped to bring a huge and often little heard variety of music to a wide audience.
His was a truly individual voice and he stood firm against what he saw as the dilution of the art form and he continues to be massively respected and influential among film composers today.
So, of course, when the opportunity arose for Spitfire Audio to collaborate with his estate, we crumbled with excitement. We hope to have developed a unique library that provides working composers with a broad variety of new sounds and possibilities, albeit rooted in the genius of Herrmann and his approach to film scoring.

Quite simply a little inspiration machine. Not quite an arpeggiator, not quite a sequencer. This intuitive device allows you to build up complex patterns that react to your playing to achieve wild systems results tantalising Zimmeresque tension beds or cheeky multi-tonguing effects!

MERCURY SYNTH

Included in the “advanced” folder are over 30 synth patches inspired by Herrmann’s use of sythesisers in combination with orchestral material. These can be controlled using our Mercury Synth GUI. Mercury–Waves Factory–Recensione

https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metropolis_Studios

FREDDIE MERCURY’S FAZIOLI

Mercury is a grand piano sample library for Kontakt Player featuring a Fazioli F-228 recorded at Metropolis Studios in London.

One year in the making, taking care of the smallest details in order to make it perfect.

It’s considered by many one of the best piano sample libraries on the market.

THE CONCEPT

Fazioli pianos pursuit perfection. They’re sophistically delicate with a very rich low-end and a lot of body resonance.

Mercury was recorded by Grammy Award winning Paul B. Norris with 5 mic positions from ultra-close to room sound for maximum versatility. It sounds warm and very emotional. Perfect for intimate low-key tracks, but it’s also very punchy and aggressive on high velocities. A combination that you don’t find usually on piano libraries.

It has been captured with so much detail and depth that you can make it sound in a million different ways and still sound natural, but it will always retain the character. Mercury can be a big monster library or light-weighted since one microphone only uses ~300MB of RAM. With realism in mind and all the possible features that we could think of including soft pedalling, una corda, sostenuto, sympathetic resonance, microtuning…

Mercury will fit in every situation perfectly, and it will be an honour to know that it has become your go-to piano library.

Spitfire Symphonic Brass–Recensione

https://www.spitfireaudio.com/shop/a-z/spitfire-symphonic-brass/

After a decade of exhaustive sampling, and four years spent capturing our finest brass players, Spitfire are proud to present Symphonic Brass. It is a definitive collection of orchestral brass recorded at Air Studios, London. With a broad selection of different section sizes from solo to large groups of Trumpets, Horns & Trombones to featured instruments; with usual suspects such as Bass Trombones & Tubas, to zeitgeist weaponry such as Cimbassi, Contrabass Trombones and a new Contrabass Tuba.
Originally released in modules as part of the BML (British Modular Library) project, Spitfire Symphonic Brass is a rationalisation of these numerous, deep sampled components, along with many improvements, including a host of new articulations and new instruments. We’ve created a more affordable entry into what we believe to be the finest orchestral brass library available today.
To justify these claims we cite this small list of contributing factors:
• British brass players are arguably the best in the world.
• Spitfire has cherry picked the best of the best.
• Recorded to tape at Air Studios via an unparalleled signal path.
• Deepest articulation, dynamic layer, round robin set of brass samples we’ve yet to see
• Produced by an award winning team of composers, producers & engineers.
• Presented in an intuitive interface based on a decade of award-winning sampling experience and a quarter century as working composers.
With playing styles from heart rending choral work to blistering lip bleed material. Whether you’re an aspiring John Williams or a zealous Hans Zimmer-ite we have no doubt that their favourite players will find favour with you!

Background

From its collieries, through its jazz clubs, amongst the hundreds of pit bands, sitting proudly abreast at the Proms in the Albert Hall, through symphonic concerts to countless chamber spaces; The British Brass tradition runs through our country and culture like spinal fluid. Spitfire set about creating a definitive showcase of British Brass talent, a doomsday time capsule of this fine tradition.
Whilst there are many great orchestras around the world, there’s just something about British brass that keeps composers coming back, sometimes under the cover of darkness to record illicit “overdubbing” sessions in London. It is the rare combination of the colliery, jazz, West End and classical traditions that produce this swaggering melting pot of rarefied individuals.
Having already recorded a full brass choir for the infamous Spitfire ‘bespoke’ range. Paul, Christian, Stanley and the Spitfire team set about a longer term project to capture this spirit, the spine of our musical culture, for the world to share and celebrate.

Features

• A broad band covering solo, chamber, symphonic and cinematic instrument groups
• Traditional to modern ‘zeitgeist’ selection of instruments from Trumpets, Horns & Bones to Cimbassi & Contrabass Instruments
• Super deep sampled, many dynamic layers and round robins
• Most comprehensive selection of articulations, and additional techniques available today
• Entry level core pack has full functionality of BML offering
• Core pack shipped with 3 distinct mic positions C(lose), T(ree), A(mbient)
• New add on pack coming soon with additional mics and mixes
NEW IN SPITFIRE SYMPHONIC BRASS
• In addition to all articulations in BML, new ‘Volume 2’ articulations across the band.
• In addition to all instruments in BML, new members including Contrabass Tuba and solo trombones.
• New, more intuitive interface design
