Collection of virtual Solo Strings by Chris Hein

Chris Hein Solo Strings Complete is an extensive Solo Strings Library including Chris Hein´s Solo Violin, Solo Viola, Solo Cello and Solo ContraBass – all recorded with greatest care and endless details, precisely edited and merged into a practical and musical instrument for NI’s Kontakt Player.

Each Instrument has over 10,000 samples, 38 articulations and 4 different legato transitions. Unique phase align techniques enable perfect X-fade blending between up to 8 dynamic layers. Play from smooth & soft to screaming loud with completely natural sounding transitions, all without artefacts or phasing.

Choose from a staggering 102 different attack shapes per note using the unique Note Head function, all with just a single fader. Two on-board convolution reverbs allow you to design the body of the instrument and the performance space itself. The DSP effects rack gives unlimited power to process the string sound, from soundtrack-ready to other-wordly.

Chris Hein Solo Strings Complete include:

Chris Hein Solo Violin delivers outstanding, detailed and highly expressive results in all relevant genres ranging from classical music and film scores to gypsy-jazz, folk and pop ballads.

Chris Hein Solo Viola features high-grade sound quality and incredible realistic articulations. This library offers everything you have been missing with previous virtual string instruments.

Chris Hein Solo Cello is a bundle of two fantastic sounding Solo Cello Instruments. The two instruments in CH-Solo Cello have exactly the same features, but a completely different sound.

Chris Hein Solo ContraBass outshines all previous Contrabass libraries. Never before, a sample library of this extent has been dedicated towards a single string instrument.

Chris HeinAll Solo String instruments included in Chris Hein Solo Strings Complete benefits from producer Chris Hein’s 30 years spanning experience in the field of sampling and library production, resulting in a products that offer highest versatility, configurability and practical use.
Unique functions
Perfect dynamic transitions thanks to phase alignment

Over a research period of several months, all samples have been fully aligned in phase. Accordingly, the instrument offers perfect seamless transitions of dynamic layers without sonic degradation.

Unique combination of short and long notes

The combination of long and short notes is a major problem in sample-libraries that often fail to deliver authentic sounding results. With real musical instruments, the note length often influences the attack behavior as well as the note end. Chris Hein – Solo Strings Complete addresses these aspects by its “Note Head Designer” which has been significantly expanded for this library. Each instrument offers a selection of 102 attack shapes. This allows calling up twelve matching short sample variations (Shorts) along with each sustain-articulation. These shorts not only offer the corresponding correct attack-behavior but also a note-end that perfectly matches the note length.

These user-defined selections of short-note-variations are available in eight dynamic layers each and can be combined with the corresponding sustained phases, leading to astonishing realistic results that cannot be achieved using random round-robin based selections. Of course, the shorts are also available as individual articulations.

Solo Strings Complete GUI

True Legato

Chris Hein – Solo Strings Complete offers true legato in up to four dynamic layers for short and long note variations. The corresponding in-depth recordings and edits result in unexpected realistic sounds with perfect note-transitions. At the same time, it is possible to combine these realistic combinations with additional artificial inserted legatos.

Library extend

The performance-data of Chris Hein – Solo Strings Complete directly reflect the immense investment in recordings and configuration possibilities. Every instrument builds upon almost 10,000 single samples, 38 articulations and up to eight dynamic layers. This makes the library one of the most in-depth sampled Solo Strings currently available.

The custom-tailored user-interface of the Kontakt Player not only offers numerous functions to adapt the library’s sound character and articulations but also provides immense configuration choices to live up to specific demands and workflows. At the same time, due to pre-programmed key-switch-presets at the lower part of the keyboard, the library can also be effectively played without any need for deep edits. Thanks to four “Dynamic Modes”, the “Note-Head Designer”, “Key-Vibrato”, “Hot-Keys” and the revolutionary concept of articulation-presets, the user-interface will give you the impression to really play this instrument live.

Spitfire Symphonic Brass–Recensione

https://www.spitfireaudio.com/shop/a-z/spitfire-symphonic-brass/

After a decade of exhaustive sampling, and four years spent capturing our finest brass players, Spitfire are proud to present Symphonic Brass. It is a definitive collection of orchestral brass recorded at Air Studios, London. With a broad selection of different section sizes from solo to large groups of Trumpets, Horns & Trombones to featured instruments; with usual suspects such as Bass Trombones & Tubas, to zeitgeist weaponry such as Cimbassi, Contrabass Trombones and a new Contrabass Tuba.
Originally released in modules as part of the BML (British Modular Library) project, Spitfire Symphonic Brass is a rationalisation of these numerous, deep sampled components, along with many improvements, including a host of new articulations and new instruments. We’ve created a more affordable entry into what we believe to be the finest orchestral brass library available today.
To justify these claims we cite this small list of contributing factors:
• British brass players are arguably the best in the world.
• Spitfire has cherry picked the best of the best.
• Recorded to tape at Air Studios via an unparalleled signal path.
• Deepest articulation, dynamic layer, round robin set of brass samples we’ve yet to see
• Produced by an award winning team of composers, producers & engineers.
• Presented in an intuitive interface based on a decade of award-winning sampling experience and a quarter century as working composers.
With playing styles from heart rending choral work to blistering lip bleed material. Whether you’re an aspiring John Williams or a zealous Hans Zimmer-ite we have no doubt that their favourite players will find favour with you!

Background

From its collieries, through its jazz clubs, amongst the hundreds of pit bands, sitting proudly abreast at the Proms in the Albert Hall, through symphonic concerts to countless chamber spaces; The British Brass tradition runs through our country and culture like spinal fluid. Spitfire set about creating a definitive showcase of British Brass talent, a doomsday time capsule of this fine tradition.
Whilst there are many great orchestras around the world, there’s just something about British brass that keeps composers coming back, sometimes under the cover of darkness to record illicit “overdubbing” sessions in London. It is the rare combination of the colliery, jazz, West End and classical traditions that produce this swaggering melting pot of rarefied individuals.
Having already recorded a full brass choir for the infamous Spitfire ‘bespoke’ range. Paul, Christian, Stanley and the Spitfire team set about a longer term project to capture this spirit, the spine of our musical culture, for the world to share and celebrate.

GUIs

The Overview Panel

Gives you a quick and easy way to access, view and load the different articulations, mic mixes and essential controller functions which you can then re-assign to suit your workflow.

General Controls Panel

A deeper but still simple UI panel that allows you to tweak the general settings. How many round robins you would like and how you would like them to behave. How would you like memory to be organised alongside pitch options and how velocity works.

The Ostinatum

Quite simply a little inspiration machine. Not quite an arpeggiator, not quite a sequencer. This intuitive device allows you to build up complex patterns that react to your playing to achieve wild systems results tantalising Zimmeresque tension beds or cheeky multi-tonguing effects!
